This story was heavily inspired by isolation, cosmic mystery, psychological tension, and the fear of discovering something impossible to explain. At its core, The Hole is about curiosity turning into obsession and the terrifying realization that some things are far older and stranger than we are prepared to confront.
Writing this story gave me the chance to lean heavily into atmosphere, suspense, and uncertainty while exploring how fear slowly reshapes perception and trust.
